Why

WHY I DO WHAT I DO AND THE IMPACT IT HAS HAD
in 2007 I suffered a significant loss in my life and although harrowing, generated the mantra that life is too short. I felt i wanted to make the most of each minute, each hour, each day and so get to the end of it and feel that I had done something that mattered, that I’d earned it. I’d thought about teaching later on in life but that whole experience just speeded the process up. And so during the grief process i started to explore my options.
I never thought for once I would be teaching music, yet here I am. Because I care is why I do it. I care for the people and communities I provide it for. The activity is almost secondary now it’s just that it’s a tool for self realisation, of understanding. It has given me a worthy purpose and helps with my healing i guess also, as it allows me to pass on through my passion a love for music and life.
The work i do has enabled paths of learning for individuals and helped various organisations on their way to providing accessible education for all.
The reason i still do it, is for those penny dropping moments. For those transformations that i see in people. But ultimately the reason why it still very much matters to me
Is that it saves lives.
