Booking & Pricing

How do I book a session or programme?

Email richie@grooveschool.org with a brief outline of your needs — whether it’s school delivery, mentoring, workshops or private tuition.
We’ll arrange an initial conversation to understand goals and availability.

What are your fees?

Fees vary depending on the type of work:

  • Schools / colleges (peripatetic or project-based)

  • Charities / community organisations

  • 1-to-1 or small-group private lessons

  • Consultancy or project management

I’ll provide a clear quote once I understand the structure, duration and setting.

Do you offer block bookings or packages?

Yes. Schools and organisations often book blocks of sessions or term-based programmes. Private learners can book sessions individually or in blocks.

What is your cancellation policy?

Sessions can be cancelled or rescheduled up to 48 hours before the agreed time. Late cancellations may be charged.

Equipment & Software

Do you provide the equipment?

Yes. I can bring DJ decks, controllers, laptops, headphones and all required teaching equipment.
For studio visits, all equipment is provided on-site.

What software do you teach?

I specialise in:

  • Logic Pro

  • Ableton Live

  • Maschine

  • Reason

  • Rekordbox

  • Serato DJ

  • Traktor

Software choice depends on learner goals and the setting.

Do learners need their own gear?

No. For school or organisation delivery, all equipment can be supplied.
Private learners do not need their own setup to begin.
If you would like advice on buying equipment later, I can help with recommendations.

Session Structure

How long are sessions?

Typical formats include:

  • 1-to-1: 60–90 minutes

  • Small groups: 60–90 minutes

  • Workshops: 2–4 hours

  • School projects: Half-day or full-day delivery

  • LOTC studio visits: Half-day or full-day packages

How often should learners have sessions?

Weekly or fortnightly works best.
Schools delivering mentoring programmes often book two sessions a week for targeted students.

Do you follow a set syllabus?

Yes — foundations, intermediate and advanced modules — but each learner also has a personalised pathway based on their needs, pace and goals.

Inclusivity & Support

Can you work with neurodivergent learners or SEND students?

Yes. I have extensive experience in SEND environments, neurodivergent colleges and alternative provision.
Sessions are adapted for sensory needs, learning pace, communication style and emotional regulation.

Do you work with students who have struggled in mainstream education?

Yes. Much of my work focuses on re-engagement, confidence building and creating accessible learning experiences for those who may feel disconnected from school.

Do you offer safeguarding?

Yes. Safeguarding is central to all delivery.
I follow clear policies, use safe communication methods and ensure sessions are structured, predictable and supportive.

Mentoring & Career Development

What does mentoring involve?

Creative mentoring combines practical music work with coaching, confidence building and personal goal-setting.
This is suitable for:

  • Students needing re-engagement

  • Young people at risk of exclusion

  • Adults needing direction or support

  • Artists seeking guidance or career clarity

Can you help learners perform live?

Yes. Many learners take part in end-of-term showcases, in-school events, studio-based sessions or community performances.

Can you help learners release their music?

Yes. I can provide guidance on track finishing, mastering basics, distribution options, uploading to streaming platforms and developing artist identity.
